[12/21, 11:13 AM] JESUS IS MY TESTIMONY: GOD IS OMNI
But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
2 Chronicles 6:18
INSPIRATION
God indeed said he would dwell in the Temple of Solomon in a special way, and his presence there was called the "Shekinah Glory of God, " which dwelt above the Ark of the Covenant, by the place where the High Priest sprinkled the blood of the annual sin offering on the Day of Atonement. But here God reminds Israel that he does not dwell in temples on on earth so as to be confined to or limited by those places.
LET'S PRAY
O Lord, you are the omni- or everywhere- present God. The heaven of heavens cannot contain you, no not the entirety of the created universe. The universe is vast beyond our ability to comprehend, yet as a created thing, we know it must have its limits. But you are infinite. Your divine nature is beyond our ability to comprehend, and we feel our smallness. But we also know you dwell in us, your people, and hold intimate communion with our spirits every day. Amen.
[12/21, 11:18 AM] JESUS IS MY TESTIMONY: LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
INSPIRATION
Before our light can shine before men, we must first of all have a light. All of God's children have the light of God's truth planted deep within their souls; but it will not due to cower in fear and seek to hide that light. There are others God has put in contact with us whom he may wish to see our light, and we have no right to hide it from them.
LET'S PRAY
Give us courage, O Lord, to live distinctively for Jesus in the midst of a dark, lost, dying world. In a world where truth seems "forever on the scaffold" and wrong "forever on the throne, " we know that your purposes are behind it all working it all out for the highest good, which is your glory. Amen.
[12/21, 11:26 AM] JESUS IS MY TESTIMONY: FOLLOW JESUS
And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
Luke 5:27
INSPIRATION
Jesus chose a despised publican (tax collector working for the Romans to tax his own people) to be among the ranks of his 12 disciples. Jesus made himself a friend of publicans and sinners and welcomed all who would turn from sin and follow him. With one simple command, "Follow me! , " Christ took Levi (Matthew) for his disciple.
LET'S PRAY
Lord Jesus, may I be as quick to leave all and follow you as was Levi of old. At your call, he rose and left all to follow you. He gave up a very profitable position and turned his back on his former sinful life. He never looked back. May we also value being true disciples of you more than all that the world may have to offer. Amen.
[12/21, 11:32 AM] JESUS IS MY TESTIMONY: WE REAP WHAT WE SOW
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7
INSPIRATION
We deceive ourselves if we think we can sow to the flesh without reaping corruption, sow the wind without reaping the whirlwind. Sin, as many have noted, always takes you further than you want to go, keeps you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. But if we sow to the Spirit, we shall reap life.
LET'S PRAY
Lord, let us learn how to sow the good Word of God in our own lives and in the lives of others. May we cease to sow the seeds of sin. May we awaken to the fact that you are not mocked, but we shall reap what we sow in life. Amen.
