📝 Title: Sing We The King Who Is Coming To Reign

✍🏻 Composer: Charles Silvester Horne

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 116

Stanza 1

SING we the King who is coming to reign,

Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain,

Life and salvation His empire shall bring,

Joy to the nations when Jesus is King.

Come let us sing: Praise to our King,

Jesus our King, Jesus our King:

This is our song, who to Jesus belong:

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.

Stanza 2

All men shall dwell in His marvellous light,

Races long severed His love shall unite,

Justice and truth from His sceptre shall spring,

Wrong shall be ended when Jesus is King.

Come let us sing: Praise to our King,

Jesus our King, Jesus our King:

This is our song, who to Jesus belong:

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.

Stanza 3

All shall be well in His kingdom of peace,

Freedom shall flourish and wisdom increase,

Foe shall be friend when His triumph we sing,

Sword shall be sickle when Jesus is King.

Come let us sing: Praise to our King,

Jesus our King, Jesus our King:

This is our song, who to Jesus belong:

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.

Stanza 4

Souls shall be saved from the burden of sin,

Doubt shall not darken His witness within,

Hell hath no terrors, and death hath no sting;

Love is victorious when Jesus is King.

Come let us sing: Praise to our King,

Jesus our King, Jesus our King:

This is our song, who to Jesus belong:

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.

Stanza 5

Kingdom of Christ, for thy coming we pray,

Hasten, O Father, the dawn of the day

When this new song Thy creation shall sing,

Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King.

Come let us sing: Praise to our King,

Jesus our King, Jesus our King:

This is our song, who to Jesus belong:

Glory to Jesus, to Jesus our King.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

When shall truth and justice reign on earth? When shall all hatred cease, and all wrongs end? When shall souls be saved from the burden of sin? All these and several others shall be when Jesus is King. See, He is coming in His glory to reign and rule. It will be joy to nations, life and salvation to God's people. Let those who have this hope join in this hymn and in His everlasting praise. And sing we the King who is coming to reign! Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Once In Royal David's City

✍🏻 Composer: Cecil Frances Alexander

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 859

Stanza 1

ONCE in royal David’s city

Stood a lowly cattle-shed,

Where a mother laid her baby

In a manger for His bed.

Mary was that mother mild,

Jesus Christ her little child.

Stanza 2

He came down to earth from heaven

Who is God and Lord of all,

And His shelter was a stable,

And His cradle was a stall;

With the poor, and mean, and lowly

Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

Stanza 3

And through all His wondrous childhood

He would honour and obey,

Love, and watch the lowly maiden

In whose gentle arms He lay.

Christian children all must be

Mild, obedient, good as He.

Stanza 4

For He is our childhood’s pattern:

Day by day like us He grew;

He was little, weak and helpless;

Tears and smiles like us He knew;

And He feeleth for our sadness,

And He shareth in our gladness.

Stanza 5

And our eyes at last shall see Him,

Through His own redeeming love;

For that child so dear and gentle

Is our Lord in heaven above;

And He leads His children on

To the place where He is gone.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Jesus Christ was born by Mary, and like us, day by day He grew. As a child, He was mild, obedient and good. As God's children, we ought to emulate Jesus Christ, not forgetting that: He was little, weak, and helpless. And He knew tears and smiles. This same Jesus is our Lord in heaven. And He leads His children to the place where He is gone. Follow His steps today! Amen. Pray!

📝 Title: The First Nowell The Angel Did Say

✍🏻 Composer: Anonymous

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 131

Stanza 1

THE first Nowell the angel did say

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay:

In fields where they lay a-keeping their sheep

On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

Stanza 2

They lookéd up and saw a star,

Shining in the east, beyond them far,

And to the earth it gave great light,

And so it continued both day and night.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

Stanza 3

And by the light of that same star,

Three wise men came from country far;

To seek for a King was their intent,

And to follow the star wherever it went.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

Stanza 4

This star drew nigh to the north-west,

O’er Bethlehem it took its rest,

And there it did both stop and stay

Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

Stanza 5

Then entered in those wise men three,

Full reverently upon their knee,

And offered there in His presence

Their gold and myrrh and frankin-cense.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

Stanza 6

Then let us all with one accord

Sing praises to our Heavenly Lord,

That hath made heaven and earth of nought,

And with His blood mankind hath bought.

Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,

Born is the King of Israel.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

It was unto "poor shepherds", not the rich or royals that the birth of Jesus was first announced. Notice also that this announcement was not done by any human or human device but by angels or divine device. What a favour! What a blessing! What a decisive action of God to choose the poor and not the rich; the shepherds and not the aristocrats; the simple and not learned by worldly standards! This Christmas, may the Lord look upon you and yours with His favour. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Silent Night, Holy Night

✍🏻 Composer: Joseph Mohr, Franz Gruber & Mark Hanson

Stanza 1

Silent night, Holy night

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin, mother and child

Holy infant, tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace,

Sleep in heavenly peace.

Stanza 2

Silent night, Holy night

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord at thy birth

Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

Stanza 3

Silent night, Holy night

Shepherds quake, at the sight

Glories stream from heaven above

Heavenly, hosts sing Hallelujah.

Christ the Saviour is born,

Christ the Saviour is born.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Yes, it was a silent, yet holy night when Jesus was born. It was a day a fulfillment, yet the beginning of better things to come. He humbly appeared on the earthly scene in the form of a baby, yet inside Him was the King and the Kingdom; the Spirit of the LORD and God's Mighty Power. Don't just celebrate Christmas without celebrating the Christ - that amounts to nothing. God takes no pleasure in that. But if only you can connect with Christ and celebrate Him as such, even if you miss this Christmas, you have really not missed anything. Remember, the season is all about Christ. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

✍🏻 Composer: William Williams; tr. by Peter Williams

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 615

Stanza 1

GUIDE me, O Thou great Jehovah,

Pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but Thou art mighty;

Hold me with Thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven!

Feed me now and evermore.

Stanza 2

Open Thou the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing stream shall flow;

Let the fiery, cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through:

Strong Deliverer!

Be Thou still my help and shield.

Stanza 3

When I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside;

Death of deaths, and hell’s destruction,

Land me safe on Canaan's side:

Songs of praises

I will ever give to Thee.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

This hymn enjoin us to surrender and submit all our ways to the Lord. The first obvious reason being that, we are weak but He is mighty. No matter your position in society or the church, you are by God's standards too weak to make life possible. Let us open up our hearts to the Lord and submit our will and ways to Him. Only God can really guide us in our journey on earth. May He guide us as we elect leaders for our nation this day. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Angels From The Realms Of Glory

✍🏻 Composer: James Montgomery

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 119

Stanza 1

ANGELS from the realms of glory,

Wing your flight o’er all the earth;

Ye, who sang creation’s story,

Now proclaim Messiah’s birth;

Come and worship,

Worship Christ, the new-born King.

Stanza 2

Shepherds in the field abiding,

Watching o’er your flocks by night,

God with man is now residing,

Yonder shines the infant light;

Come and worship,

Worship Christ, the new-born King.

Stanza 3

Sages, leave your contemplations;

Brighter visions beam afar;

Seek the great Desire of nations;

Ye have seen His natal star;

Come and worship,

Worship Christ, the new-born King.

Stanza 4

Saints, before the altar bending,

Watching long with hope and fear,

Suddenly the Lord, descending,

In His temple shall appear;

Come and worship,

Worship Christ, the new-born King.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

The invitation is still ongoing and clear: That God has appeared in the flesh - in the person of Jesus Christ and is reconciling all humans unto Himself. So come; come to Jesus! Come and worship our new born king, who is the Christ and Lord of all. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Long Time Ago In Bethlehem

Stanza 1

Long time ago in Bethlehem

So the Holy Bible say

Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ

Was born on Christmas Day.

Hark now hear the angels sing

A king was born today

And man will live for evermore

Because of Christmas Day.

Stanza 2

While shepherds watched their flock by night,

They see a bright new shining star

They hear a choir of angels sing

The music seemed to come from afar.

Hark, now hear the angels sing,

A king was born today

And man will live forevermore

Because of Christmas Day.

Stanza 3

Joseph and his wife, Mary,

Came to Bethlehem that night,

They found no place to bear her child,

Not a single room was in sight.

Hark now hear the angels sing,

A king was born today

And man will live forevermore

Because of Christmas Day

Stanza 4

By and by they find a little nook

In a stable all forlorn,

And in a manger cold and dark,

Mary's little boy was born.

Hark now hear the angels sing,

A king was born today

And man will live forevermore

Because of Christmas Day.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

It was in Bethlehem that Jesus was born, long long time ago. History has it that, He was born and placed in a manger. This was not because God lacked or could not reserve or find a room for His own Son to be born there. God made a choice, and He has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the strong and proud. So has He chosen to give life to humanity through Christ Jesus. It may not sound impressive to manage, but that is God's choice and approved means. If only anyone would believe, they will live forevermore. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Good Christian Men, Rejoice

✍🏻 Composer: John Mason Neale

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 143

Stanza 1

GOOD Christian men, rejoice

With heart and soul and voice!

Give ye heed to what we say: News! News!

Jesus Christ is born to-day.

Ox and ass before Him bow,

And He is in the manger now:

Christ is born to-day.

Stanza 2

Good Christian men, rejoice

With heart and soul and voice!

Now ye hear of endless bliss:

Joy! Joy!

Jesus Christ was born for this.

He hath oped the heavenly door,

And man is blest for evermore.

Christ was born for this.

Stanza 3

Good Christian men, rejoice

With heart and soul and voice!

Now ye need not fear the grave:

Peace! Peace!

Jesus Christ was born to save;

Calls you one, and calls you all,

To gain His everlasting hall.

Christ was born to save.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Dear one in Christ, fear not the grace, for Jesus was born to save. Have the peace of God! Hear then the endless bliss: Joy, Joy. Christ was born for this. Christ was born for your sake. Let not His birth be a waste. Simply believe: trust and obey Him. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: O Holy Night!

✍🏻 Composer: Adam Adolphe

Stanza 1

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining

It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices

O night divine

O night when Christ was born.

Stanza 2

Truly He taught us to love one another

His law is love and His gospel is peace

Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother

And in His name, all oppression shall cease

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we

Let all within us praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever

His power and glory evermore proclaim

O night divine, O night when Christ was born.

Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices

O night divine

O night when Christ was born

O night divine, O night when Christ was born.

Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever

His power and glory evermore proclaim

O night divine, O night when Christ was born.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

The whole world lay in sin. Unless a person believes in Christ Jesus, he/she is still under the reign of sin. Unless you believe in Christ Jesus, you are still under Satan's domain. Why not join us fall on our knees before the King of Ages? Start now! Pray!

📝 Title: See, Amid The Winter's Snow

✍🏻 Composer: Edward Caswall

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 124

Stanza 1

SEE, amid the winter’s snow,

Born for us on earth below,

See, the Lamb of God appears,

Promised from eternal years.

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Stanza 2

Lo, within a manger lies

He who built the starry skies,

He who, throned in height sublime,

Sits amid the cherubim.

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Stanza 3

Say, ye holy shepherds, say,

What your joyful news to-day;

Wherefore have ye left your sheep

On the lonely mountain steep?

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Stanza 4

As we watched at dead of night,

Lo, we saw a wondrous light:

Angels, singing peace on earth,

Told us of the Saviour’s birth.

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Stanza 5

Sacred Infant, all divine,

What a tender love was Thine,

Thus to come from highest bliss

Down to such a world as this!

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

Stanza 6

Teach, O teach us, holy Child,

By Thy face so meek and mild,

Teach us to resemble Thee

In Thy sweet humility.

Hail, thou ever-blessed morn!

Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!

Sing through all Jerusalem:

Christ is born in Bethlehem!

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

It was for us, and for our sake that Jesus was born. However, unless we receive His Word and believe Him, this blessed birth of Jesus will be of no use to us. So open your eyes and 'see amid the winter's snow' - for Christ Jesus has been born for you. Open your ears and hear God's Word; open your heart to receive Him into your life. Your life will never be the same! The time to act is now! Pray!

✍🏽 Composer: From Antiphons in Latin Breviary, 12th cent.; tr. by John Mason Neals

METHODIST HYMN BOOK [MHB] 257

O COME, O come, Immanuel,

And ransom captive Israel,

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Stanza 2

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,

Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,

In ancient times didst give the law

In cloud, and majesty, and awe.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Stanza 3

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free

Thine own from Satan's tyranny;

From depths of hell Thy people save,

And give them victory o'er the grave.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Stanza 4

O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer

Our spirits by Thine advent here;

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,

And death's dark shadows put to flight.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Stanza 5

O come, Thou Key of David, come,

And open wide our heavenly home;

Make safe the way that leads on high,

And close the path to misery.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Jesus is our Immanuel: the Lord God who came to live with us. Jesus is the Lord of might: in Him, we shall not be defeated. Jesus is that Rod of Jesse promised to free humans from Satan's tyranny and rule. Have you considered this Jesus? Don't let Christmas be a mere celebration without encountering the Christ. Invite Him into your life today! Pray!

📝 Title: O Come, All Ye Faithful

✍🏻 Composer: Anonymous, 17th or 18th cent., tr. by Frederick Oakeley

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 118

Stanza 1

O COME, all ye faithful,

Joyful and triumphant,

Come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

Come and behold Him

Born the King of angels:

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Stanza 2

True God of true God,

Light of Light eternal,

Lo! He abhors not the Virgin’s womb,

Son of the Father,

Begotten, not created:

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Stanza 3

Sing, choirs of angels,

Sing in exultation,

Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above,

Glory to God

In the highest:

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Stanza 4

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,

Born this happy morning;

Jesus, to Thee be glory given,

Word of the Father,

Now in flesh appearing:

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Look at the second stanza. Who is the hymnist talking about? Who is this "True God of true God and Light of light eternal"? Again, who is this person who did not abhor the virgin's womb? He was not created but begotten of the Father in heaven to be the Son of God; the Son of the Most High. Indeed, He is Jesus, the Christ of God! May His name be forever blessed, for He is worthy of our praises. Unto Him alone be honour and power and glory now and evermore. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Joy To The World

✍🏻 Composer: G. F. Handel & Isaac Watts

Stanza 1

Joy to the world, the Lord has come!

Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room,

And Heaven and nature sing,

And Heaven and nature sing,

And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Stanza 2

Joy to the earth, the Saviour reigns!

Let men their songs employ;

While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

Stanza 3

No more let sins and sorrows grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make His blessings flow

Far as the curse is found,

Far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as, the curse is found.

Stanza 4

He rules the world with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness,

And wonders of His love,

And wonders of His love,

And wonders, wonders, of His love.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

The greatest joy to the world began at His birth. The birth of Christ Jesus was a good news of great joy to all who dwell on earth. Jesus is full of Truth and Grace, and with these, He also rules. So let there no more be sin and sorrow, nor thorns to infest the ground, for He came to make His blessings flow as far as curses have been and even beyond. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Hark! The Herald-Angels Sing

✍🏻 Composer: Charles Wesley

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 117

Stanza 1

HARK! The herald-angels sing

Glory to the new-born King,

Peace on earth, and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled.

Joyful, all ye nations, rise,

Join the triumph of the skies;

With the angelic host proclaim,

Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Hark! the herald-angels sing

Glory to the new-born King.

Stanza 2

Christ, by highest heaven adored,

Christ, the everlasting Lord,

Late in time behold Him come,

Offspring of a virgin’s womb!

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;

Hail the incarnate Deity!

Pleased as man with men to dwell,

Jesus, our Immanuel.

Hark! the herald-angels sing

Glory to the new-born King.

Stanza 3

Mild He lays His glory by,

Born that man no more may die,

Born to raise the sons of earth,

Born to give them second birth.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!

Hail the Sun of Righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings,

Risen with healing in His wings.

Hark! the herald-angels sing

Glory to the new-born King.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

As heaven adores the birth of our new-born King, let us also rejoice. For He was born that no man may die, He was born to give the sons of this earth a second birth and He was also born to bring peace on earth and to reconcile sinners to God. Together, let us join the herald-angels to sing glory to the new-born King. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: Brightest And Best

✍🏻 Composer: Reginald Heber

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 122

Stanza 1

BRIGHTEST and best of the sons of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness, and lend us thine aid;

Stars of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

Stanza 2

Cold on His cradle the dew-drops are shining;

Low lies His head with the beasts of the stall;

Angels adore Him in slumber reclining,

Maker, and Monarch, and Saviour of all.

Stanza 3

Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion,

Odours of Edom, and offerings divine,

Gems of the mountain and pearls of the ocean,

Myrrh from the forest or gold from the mine?

Stanza 4

Vainly we offer each ample oblation;

Vainly with gifts would His favour secure;

Richer by far is the heart’s adoration;

Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.

Stanza 5

Brightest and best of the sons of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness, and lend us thine aid;

Stars of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

When the Lord was incarnated, He was laid in a manger. Yet, He really was the Maker, Monarch and Saviour of all. Take a look at stanzas 3 & 4 together. Whereas all of stanza 3 is a question, all of stanza 4 is the response. Look at them carefully and you will realise that even the best of our offerings in costly devotion can be vain oblation (offering or sacrifice) and vain gifts which cannot secure for us His favour if we are without a pure heart. Just as our hearts' sincere devotion is by far richer than all our gifts and offerings, let us remember that the prayer of the poor in spirit is dearer to God. May these qualities characterise our devotion to the Lord and our gifts and offerings this Christmas. Amen! Pray!

📝 Title: While Shepherd Watch Their Flocks By Night

✍🏻 Composer: Nahum Tate

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 129

Stanza 1

WHILE shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,

And glory shone around.

Stanza 2

Fear not ! said he; for mighty dread

Had seized their troubled mind:

Glad tidings of great joy I bring

To you and all mankind.

Stanza 3

To you, in David’s town, this day

Is born, of David ‘s line,

A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord;

And this shall be the sign:

Stanza 4

The heavenly Babe you there shall find

To human view displayed,

All meanly wrapped in

swaddling bands

And in a manger laid.

Stanza 5

Thus spake the seraph; and forthwith

Appeared a shining throng

Of angels praising God, and thus

Addressed their joyful song:

Stanza 6

All glory be to God on high,

And to the earth be peace;

Good will henceforth from heaven to men

Begin and never cease! Amen.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

The message to the shepherds was a message of great joy for all humankind. These shepherds did not take this for granted. They acted: they left in search of the baby Jesus. And when they saw Him, they never kept silent about Him. They spread the news: the good news of the Saviour's birth. They spread the joy! That too is what Christmas is about. Spread the news of Jesus, the Saviour mighty to save! Spread the joy to all you can! Start now! Pray!

But they that wait upon on the Lord

Shall renew their strength

They shall mount up with wings of eagle

They shall walk and not be weary

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

So wait for the Lord, so wait for the Lord,

And He won't be long upon you

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

It's 28th December! The year is far spent. Many have grown weary, and others have given up. Where lies your hope? Where is your strength? Be admonished that there is hope for those who trust in the Lord. Yes, there is strength for those who wait upon the Lord. Let this be your hope. Wait upon the Lord! Amen! Pray!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

📝 Title: And Are We Yet Alive

✍🏻 Composer: Charles Wesley

METHODIST HYMN BOOK (MHB) 709

Stanza 1

AND are we yet alive,

And see each other’s face?

Glory and praise to Jesus give

For His redeeming grace!

Stanza 2

Preserved by power divine

To full salvation here,

Again in Jesu's praise we join,

And in His sight appear.

Stanza 3

What troubles have we seen,

What conflicts have we passed,

Fightings without, and fears within,

Since we assembled last!

Stanza 4

But out of all the Lord

Hath brought us by His love;

And still He doth His help afford,

And hides our life above.

Stanza 5

Then let us make our boast

Of His redeeming power,

Which saves us to the uttermost,

Till we can sin no more:

Stanza 6

Let us take up the cross,

Till we the crown obtain;

And gladly reckon all things loss,

So we may Jesus gain.

💡HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Who will deny that God has preserved us by His divine power this year - a year of a global pandemic? Let us use all that is within us to bless the name of the Lord. For He is worthy to be praised, and for that matter worthy of our praises. Let us all together say: Thank You Lord Jesus for sustaining our lives all through this year. Thank You very much dear God for making it possible for us to see each other's face. All glory and praise be to Your holy name. Amen! Pray!

💡 HYMN REFLECTIONS:

Many have described it as an extremely challenging year; a year of misfortunes; a year of catastrophic happenings; indeed, a year of a global pandemic with fatal consequences. Unfortunately, many lost their means of livelihood; their loved ones and some sadly succumbed to the cold icy hands of death. But through it all, you can only read this today because you are alive. This can only be as a result of the Lord's Grace and Mercy. What then shall we say in response to these? We can only say, Thank You Jesus and ask for more in the coming year. Amen! Pray!
