IDAILYBREAD.CO. JANUARY 2021

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

 Proverbs 21 :30

INSPIRATION

The curse of the "know-it-all." We all are possessed by it at some time or another. We find ourselves in a situation, needing guidance, sev c.f.eking answers. We seek advice from everyone around us, hoping that someone will give us the answers we want to hear. We seek advice from every sector, except God. It is amazing how we can listen to God's voice, know beyond a shadow of a doubt what He would have us do, and still manage to do our own thing, believing that, in this case, we know best. It never works. No wisdom on this earth is better than the wisdom of God. We will find no counsel in any Facebook post or face-to-face friend who has our best interest at heart the way that God does. And no one will ever understand us the way the One who created us, who formed us in the womb, understands us. The "know-it-all" doesn't stand a chance against the one who truly does know it all.

PRAYER

Father, I know that I sometimes consult everyone and everything else before I consult you. I also know that I may not always like the answer You give me so I often try to do things my own way. Please help to recognize when this happens. Help me to know that everything I do is simply better with You in it. I don’t want to run around this life making decisions without You. I know that Your wisdom, understanding, and counsel are above all others and that everything You do, You do for me, that I may have an abundant life. Thank you for loving me, even when I am stubborn. Thank You for Your grace, and most of all, for Your mercy. Amen

Night

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

1 Corinthians 27:1

INSPIRATION

If you look at it on paper, it does not make sense why God would even consider us human beings to be his vessels. Human beings were never worthy. With angels and greater creations around, it is deeply humbling to know that God would use us, the unqualified, to carry this precious message. Don’t ever think that you cannot be used as a messenger of God. He has already qualified you.

PRAYER

Dear God, I thank you that in all I do, I have you with me. Thank you for considering me as your child and as a vessel to bring light into the world. Lord I know there are people who may be smarter and stronger than me, but that does not move me. You are the source of my validation, Lord. To you, I am grateful. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

2nd January 2021

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

INSPIRATION

Many people have heard the old English saying, “The proof is in the pudding." But when this proverb was first recorded in 1605, it read “The proof of the pudding is in the eating," which makes much more sense. If we understand the word “proof" means “evidence," then the evidence of whether a pudding is good or not is found in the eating of it. If it tastes good, then it has proven itself, because it is successful at its intended purpose. The evidence of God’s love for us is found in the true sacrifice of Christ. It was not just that Christ gave His life for us, but that “even while we were sinners" He gave His life. He didn’t die for a good and righteous people. He didn’t die for people who were selfless and kind. He died for sinners. This is the true proof of the unconditional, no-strings-attached love that our God has for us.

PRAYER

Lord, I thank you for what You did for me all those years ago, and what You do for me daily. I will never understand the magnitude of Your love for me, but I gratefully accept it.  I pray that I always remember that, even in my sin, You saw my worth.  Help me to see the worth in all people. Help me to love them the way that You do and to sacrifice my needs and desires so that I may help others. Amen.

Night

I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:12-13

INSPIRATION

One of the most important things we should learn, as Christians, is to be content. We will face periods in our lives where we will have plenty and we will face times of lack. Neither situations reflect on God’s character. God’s character is revealed in our endurance and our contentment because of our trust in Him. Don’t be moved by your situations. Be content in God. He has all your needs covered.

PRAYER

Dear God, I thank you that you are the source of my strength in every situation I go through. I know I can endure anything because Christ is my strength. May I never forget this, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

January 3

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:16

INSPIRATION

Sometimes it is much easier to love someone than to allow someone to love us. Having someone love us often puts us at a disadvantage. We must then allow that person do something for us. We become dependent on that person. We are in some way “beholden" to that person. It is a prideful position to be in. Allowing ourselves to be loved means believing that we deserve to be loved. It is essential that we learn to allow God to love us. So many people miss that crucial point. They don’t believe they are deserving of God’s love, or of His mercy. They believe they must somehow “earn" His love. It is difficult for them to accept His gift of grace. It is faith alone that allows us to believe that, even if we are undeserving, God loves us anyway. When we can accept this undeserved gift of love, then we can truly learn how to love.

PRAYER

Father, I don’t know how you could love or show me the mercy that You have shown me. I never did anything deserving Your love, but You gave it to me anyway. I know that I can never repay You for the kindness You have shown me, but the miracle of it all, is that I don’t have to. Thank you for Your gift of love. Help me never take it lightly and help me share that love with everyone around me. Amen.

Night

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58

INSPIRATION

Since we know of the great victory we have in Christ, and the glorious future that is ahead of us, we are to remain encouraged and fixed in the things of God. When we serve God, we are to do so wholeheartedly because our work is not just for ourselves, it is to bring glory to God’s name.

PRAYER

Dear God, I choose to abide in you because I know that there is no one else I can turn to. No one else can compare to you, God. I thank you that my hope is not for nothing, because of all you have promised. May I always give my best in the work I do for you, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen

4th January

@For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Isaiah 41:13

INSPIRATION

As a child, there was nothing more comforting than waking from a bad dream to our parent’s soothing voice saying, “I’m here. Don’t be scared." In our parent’s arms, there was safety. There was help. God promises to hold us in His hand. We are not to fear because He is close at hand. When the nightmares of life threaten to take over, He is there. He wraps us in His loving arms and assures us that all will be well. “I am here," He says. “Do not fear."

PRAYER

Father, You are to God who makes me safe. When I am afraid, I will cling to You and remember Your words. Keep me in your strong right hand and protect me from nightmares of this world. Help me when I falter. Lift me up when I fall. Amen.

Night

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts 1:14

INSPIRATION

Prayer was the bond that kept the apostles and the believers of the Early Church together. They spent much time praying in one another’s houses – praying for strength and encouragement to remain steadfast in their faith in Christ. Prayer is the same bond that will keep families, marriages, families, and churches together. We cannot afford to take prayer for granted in our communal lives as believers.

PRAYER

Dear God, I thank you that we can access you in prayer at all times. Father I pray that I will never neglect the importance of prayer in my life. We know that it is through prayer we remain strengthened and we are able to refresh our union in you. May it remain this way, O Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

5th JANUARY 2021

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

Isaiah 41: 4

INSPIRATION

A righteous person is an asset to the kingdom of God. The words that fall from his lips bring wisdom to some, knowledge to some, and healing to others. He uses his mouth to speak life into other people and everyone who hears His benefits. A fool, on the other hand, lacks understanding. His words don’t build anyone up; in fact, they often tear others down. Rather than being a benefit to the Kingdom, a fool is an element of destruction. He talks without thinking and speaks without wisdom. As a result, a fool brings about his own ruin.

PRAYER

Father, I seek to be a righteous person. Help me to speak words of truth, wisdom, life and healing to others. Let every word that I speak be used for building up Your kingdom and never for tearing it down. Help me to avoid talking or acting like a fool who brings about his own ruin. Amen.

Night

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Matthew 5:14

INSPIRATION

What does light do? It eliminates all forms of darkness. As Christians, we carry light – Christ – and that light will help eliminate darkness from the lives of many. When we are in Christ, we cannot be stopped. The light cannot be put out. Shine your light; the world needs it!

PRAYER

Dear God, I pray that I will always be a pointer to you in every situation I find myself in. May this light that you have placed in me shine brightly and may it help more and more people come to you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
